The Cherry on Top
Before heading to Pisa, I thought this sight would feel rather passé and be overcrowded with tourists. We had scheduled to go on the last Monday of our trip and although we though it would be closed, it would simply be nice to walk the grounds. It turns out that on this gorgeous Monday, there was no lineups and it was well worth the trip.
Climbing the tower was interesting to say the least, leaning from one wall to the other as we climbed up the worn out marble stairs, taking the occasional peak out before continuing our ascent. Once we had reached to last level, you can take a peak down its hollow center and take another very narrow staircase to feel like you're on top of the world. From there you can not only have an amazing view of Pisa but also to the Alps and the Mediteranean. What a view!

It sounds so wonderful that you could see the Mediterranean Sea from the top. A good reason to return. When we were there we didn't have time to really travel through Italy like we would have liked, so at some point in our lives plan to return. We loved the people and the country very much.
The age of these buildings and to look at the architectural designs are breath taking. In my neck of the woods early 1900's seems old, hardly worthwhile, hardly standing.
I enjoyed reading your blog I've been remembering fun things we did while in Italy, thanks for stirring up my memories!
